ALEX RIVÈRE AND THE COOL COMMITTEE

I’ve wanted to work in the fashion industry for as long as I can remember, and thanks to a lot of preparation and determination I’ve made it.

Alex, what do you answer when people ask you what you do for a living?

It’s always a ‘complicated’ question but I try to explain it in the simplest way possible. At the end of the day what I do is to ‘create content’. My job has two facets that feed from each other. On one side, there’s my creative direction office, where I offer different services to companies: graphic design, productions, styling, fashion design and social media management. On the other side, there’s my online magazine and my Instagram profile, both of them allow me to showcase my work and recruit new clients.

Sometimes it’s confusing since a lot of my office clients ask me to be the face of their campaigns or content, which makes me be at both sides: designing the project and appearing on it.

”I prefer quality than quantity, and I only work with brands that I really love and fit with who I am.”

They are extremely comfortable and we’ve put a lot of effort in making them hug the figure as much as posible”.

What do you want to be when you’re older?

I’ve wanted to work in the fashion industry for as long as I can remember, and thanks to a lot of preparation and determination I’ve made it. When I’m older? I want to keep working like I’m doing now, but with bigger projects and challenges.

You have been told that you look like a good girl, what ‘evil’ thing or adventure would get you out of your comfort zone?

I’m actually someone who can give off a specific feeling, but when people get to know me they realise that not everything is as it looks. I’m very friendly and I’m more loyal to my family than anything else in the world, I’m also such a clown and I really want to conquer the world. What I like the most? The engine world. Motorbikes and cars are my passion since I was little, they bring out the masculine side in me.

How do you manage to see your image associated to so many different brands? How do you choose them?

I don’t work with any brand that is not coherent with regard to the other ones. I prefer quality than quantity, and I only work with brands that I really love and fit with who I am.

Why did you decide to design bathing suits instead of hats or sandals?

After graduating from college, I worked two years and a half at TCN alongside Totón Comella, who taught me so much. She taught me how to love fabrics and patterns, and the care that’s behind every piece. During this stage I became friends with a coworker, she’s currently the director of her studio Clara Esteve Studio. Once I left TCN we promised each other we would work together again, and that’s exactly what happened. I designed a collection for her brand All That She Loves.

Who do you think is the most handsome man in the world?

I don’t like handsome men, I prefer the attractive ones. I love Gerard Butler or Jason Statham.

The paradise of your dreams?

My paradise is my family home in Llavaneras. For me, it’s the most beautiful place in the world, where I grew up surrounded by my loved ones.

Could you live with just your swimwear line and accessories and no other clothes?

Something I love about my swimwear line is its versatility. During the day, it’s the perfect partner for the swimming pool, the boat or the beach. They are extremely comfortable and we’ve put a lot of effort in making them hug the figure as much as posible. The designs are very simple but with a sophisticated touch for a more complete look. Taking that into account, they’re perfect as a top or a bodysuit for a night look. I don’t think they need too much atrezzo, specially in my case, I’ve always defended that less is more.

Is it exhausting to be always ‘camera ready’?

It’s very tiring sometimes, but I love it. I’m a very active person, and if I don’t work I get bored.

Your biggest extravagance?

I’m obsessed with tidiness, specially with shoes and bags. I love to keep them ALL inside their boxes, cases and with their fillings. My friends always joke that my dressing room looks like a store, or a warehouse because of all the boxes.

What talent would you want to have?

I would have loved to be a car or motorbike pilot.

What is beauty for you?

Self confidence.
