EUGENIA SILVA: WOMEN'S DAY 2019

In regards to Women’s Day, Eugenia Silva shares with Cabinett why she believes in women and what it means for her to be a woman in the fashion industry.

The fight for equality is an everyday act. In a conversation, in a small gesture, in the work place. But every March 8th is the day in which we reclaim we are strong, empathetic, hardworking, fighters and we deserve an equal society.

I believe in women’s magic and I believe in our power. I’ve always had the luck of working with women and what I like the most is that special way of understanding each other, of trusting and support us mutually. I always end up laughing because more than workmates they turn into friends and there’s this general feeling, this dynamic of sorority, that is so important nowadays.

“Rules and the old establishment are there to be broken and from Cabinett we want to be part of this fight”.

I believe in the spirit of overcoming that us women have and in our determination when it comes to achieving goals. I’m equal parts mother, entrepreneur and model and it’s definitely quite a challenge but with organization, perseverance and, of course, a nice team that trusts and supports me, my goal is no less than take over the world.

I believe that things in our society should change and I, as part of the fashion industry, want to do my bit to help. I’ve lived in this industry for 20 years, I know every nook of the fashion world since I was 16 and I decided to turn into a project what I loved the most. That’s why Cabinett was born, my hope, my dream that I get to see grow as time goes by, a way of empowering women through fashion, so complicated but so much fun, so full of styles and so open to new visions. Fashion changes, fashion evolves, just as society does, and right now, in the fashion industry, there are no rules. I defend and I will always defend that fashion is part of the change. When I started out as a model, for example, I thought I was going to retire myself by 27 and here I am, being 43 years old. Rules and the old establishment are there to be broken and from Cabinett we want to be part of this fight.
